It’s hard to imagine a world without social media. The modern world strives to make everyday tasks that little bit easier, and seemingly this applies to socialising too.
The world is social media
It is now easy to stay up to date on the goings-on of friends and family without having to get up and leave the house. As a student beginning University, I know the importance of keeping my finger on the social pulse through sites like these. However, I was recently made aware of the danger of revealing too much over sites like Facebook and Bebo.
It’s a well known fact that many businesses scan the web for information about perspective employees, and the line between appropriate and inappropriate is thin, if not transparent. Everyone enjoys sharing photos, but it is difficult to know what could potentially turn an employer off. From one angle, you want to show your fun and sociable side online, letting loved ones know what’s going on in your life. From another, pictures of raucous nights out could seriously damage a professional’s opinion of you.
